About Us
Dave Thayer, A.K.A. Canyon Dave, grew up in northern Arizona.
He has hiked, visited, eaten, and toured extensively in the Sedona area. Dave attended the University of Arizona, where
he earned the M.S. degree in Geology. In Prescott, Arizona, he was professor of geology for eight years at Yavapai College.
He then took the position of Curator of Geology at the Arizona-Sonora
Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Dave has written several books and many articles on the natural history of Arizona.
Dave's wife, Dora "the explorer", has her BS degree in field
biology. She and Dave operate their tour business at Grand Canyon and Sedona, offering daily tours all year. On
January 1, 2008, the company incorporated. Canyon Dave Tours Inc is currently based in Williams, Arizona.
